History on a Shirt
Solar Eclipse 2017 St Joseph Missouri
This print is adapted from artwork for a t-shirt designed for the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph ("St. Joe"), Missouri. The distinctive building that houses the museum stands against the backdrop of a US map showing the eclipse path heading for Oregon Territory just like settlers who headed west from St. Joseph. Behind the map is the moon, eclipsing the sun behind it. Text on the image notes the August 21, 2017 date, and celebrates St. Joseph's central position in the middle of the US as well as the middle of the midday night. The background, fittingly for a night that isn't night, is a very dark blue, not quite black.
See our blog post for more about the eclipse and St. Joseph.
This print would make a good souvenir for those crossing the heartland not on the Pony Express route, nor on the Oregon Trail, but on the solar eclipse path.
